Counselor's Corner

elementary resources and activites

Dear LNES Parents and Families,
My name is Katie Pearson and I am the School Counselor at Laguna Niguel Elementary School.  As a CUSD Counselor, I am committed to the academic, social/emotional, and career growth of all students.  Through this commitment, I provide a variety of services to students, parents, and families.  These services include:
  • Short-Term Individual Counseling
  • Short-Term Group Counseling
  • Classroom Lessons on Social and Emotional Learning (Second Step Lessons)
  • Consultation
  • Conflict Mediation
  • Referrals and Resources

Students can be referred for counseling support by staff or parents.  Students can also refer themselves using the self-referral form. Parent permission is required for short-term individual or group counseling.

During the time that we are physically away from school, I will be available to you virtually.  Just like in school, my main priority is to provide you and your family what you may need during this time.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about counseling services.  I can be reached via email, telephone, or by using the Referral links on the left hand side of this page under Referrals.

Second Step Social Curriculum
SECOND STEP SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING CURRICULUM

Second Step is our schoolwide Social Emotional Learning curriculum that is delivered to students by grade level. Each grade level receives a minimum of 6 lessons within the categories of Empathy, Skills for Learning, Emotion Management, and Problem Solving. Students also receive Home Links after many lessons to help involve parents in social-emotional learning as well.

Home Links are simple, fun activities that encourage interaction between students and their adult family members, caregivers, or other important adults. The activities give students a chance to practice Second Step skills outside of school and help families learn about the skills so they can use them at home. Below you can find links to all Home Links.
